Raider Tactical promotes safety, security, awareness, fitness, and tactical training. Owner Julia Valencia has been involved in training for more than two decades. Julia met her first training partner in 1993. It wasn’t until 2000 that they joined forces. Gary invited Julia to begin tactical training at the police academy as a member of the nationally known Arrestling Defensive Tactics Training Group. The rest is history………
Gary, Raider Tactical’s Founder and Chief Instructor, has been training in martial arts since childhood. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps and is proud of his service. He has worked in law enforcement, law enforcement training, military training, tactical tracking, SWAT, and executive protection training. He continues serving the public through his instruction in combatives, weapon retention,
and concealed weapon tactics for law enforcement, security professionals, and civilians. His passion for training thrives.
Julia, a northwest native, and a premier self-defense instructor has been involved in the criminal justice system since college. She became an instructor (the only female instructor) for Arrestling, training in mixed martial arts (Muay Thai, Escrima, Jiu-Jitsu). She has worked as a Police Motor Officer and Supervisor for her department. Julia is a defensive tactics and less-lethal weapons trainer for her department and the police academy. She instructs firearms safety and defensive shooting as well. She
spends her time within the community promoting safety and awareness.
Together Gary and Julia have instructed hundreds of law enforcement officers at the state (WA) police academy. They provide private security for visiting celebrities and at local events. Gary is an exceptional tactician and advisor. Julia lends calm confidence. Gary and Julia are well respected and regarded as experts in the security and training industry. They encourage those they meet to help make a difference. In 2016 they were each inducted into the USA Martial Arts Hall of Fame for their exceptional instruction. They are considered subject matter experts.
Raider Tactical is a philosophy and a passion. It is a woman-owned, Native American-owned business. More importantly, it’s a way of life for Julia. Julia and Gary believe there is personal accountability in public safety. They promote fitness and tactical training as a means of taking care of themselves, their work partners, and the citizens they serve, inspiring others to do the same.
